Ian's Room

This design was created based on an Eric Carle book, My Apron. Eric Carle creates his illustrations using painted tissue paper. Translating this into a wall-paint technique was a fun challenge. If you compare the book to the mural, the images are nearly identical.

Amelia's Room--Details

Here are some details from Amelia's room.

Evan's Room

Evan's Room features a large mural of an outdoor scene. The scene includes several insects and creatures. Also in Evan's room is a custom painting of Speed Racer.

This was originally designed for my husband, who used
to pretend that his green car was speed racer's car.

What you cannot see in this photo is the mole and ant tunnels.

Amelia's Room

Amelia's room is the most recent. The design included meticulous stripes of alternating size, four paintings of cartoon scenes, a ceiling full of clouds, an installation piece, and several cartoon figures hidden around the room. The ceiling also features glow in the dark star constellations taken from a star-chart dated the night Amelia was born. The placement of stars is accurate to the coordinates of Amelia's room. The close-ups shown here are a series of cartoon scenes created in partnership with Amelia's parents. Their input was encouraged and utilized at every juncture.
